Chelsea Logistics joins Udenna Foundation for tree planting in Calaca, Batangas

Chelsea Logistics cares for the environment

Chelsea Logistics joined the Udenna Foundation’s tree planting activity at Calaca Seaport to help mitigate the effects of climate change. A total of 600 assorted seedlings were planted by employee-volunteers from Calaca Industrial Seaport Corporation, Chelsea Logistics, Malampaya Foundation, UC38 LLC, and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of the City of Calaca.

As Calaca, Batangas is one of its ports of call and major area of tugboat operations, Chelsea Shipping, one of the subsidiaries of Chelsea Logistics, ensures it gives back to the community by preserving its ecosystem and protecting the quality of soil and air in the area.

Guided by the principle, “You have to sow before you can reap. You have to give before you can get.”, Chelsea Logistics exemplifies it core value of stewardship by reducing vessels’ carbon footprint and regularly participating in environmental causes like tree/mangrove planting and coastal clean-ups. Since 2016, the Chelsea Group has planted 6,708 trees within its areas of operations.

“Caring for the environment starts with us. We are proud to have been able to plant a significant number of trees—more than triple our initial commitment—and we hope that this initiative helps improve the quality of life and air in Calaca, as well as aid in preserving the environment,” said Dennis Uy, Chairman and CEO of the Udenna Group.

“We recognize there is so much to do for nature as the climate crisis deepens. We hope to do more activities like this to help more communities and raise awareness on the importance of doing what we can for the environment,” said Udenna Foundation President Cherylyn C. Uy.
